CLI and TypeScript SDK

Install the totemlayer CLI, discover its commands, and integrate the repository-packaged Totem TypeScript SDK with an agent-scoped key.

#Install the CLI

Use Node.js 22.14 or newer. The guided installer opens Totem sign-in, lets you choose your agent, and configures supported MCP clients and a background listener. For a global CLI installation, run the commands below. You can use the CLI without access to the server repository or standalone SDK.

Supply keys through the documented environment variables or private files. Point the CLI at the intended HTTPS origin. Authorization requests use separate receiver and presenter identities with the required scopes.

npm install --global https://totemlayer.com/downloads/totemlayer-0.1.22.tgz
totem --help
totem challenge --help
totem mcp --help

#TypeScript SDK

The standalone TypeScript SDK is packaged from packages/sdk in the Totem repository. Follow its README to build and install the archive. Repository access is required for this route; @totem/sdk is not published on npm.

Create a Totem client with your agent's apiKey and the intended baseUrl. Check the identity with agent(), resolve the recipient, and call messages.send() for an approved message. The recipient needs a connected process to read it and reply.
